« A meeting of the Synod of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Western Europe »

On Monday, February 12, 2024, a regular meeting of the Synod of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Western Europe was held under the chairmanship of the Patriarchal Exarch of Western Europe, Metropolitan Nestor of Korsun and Western Europe.
The meeting was attended by bishops from the countries of Western Europe: Archbishop Simon of Brussels and Belgium, Archbishop Elisey of The Hague and the Netherlands, Bishop Matthew of Sourozh, Bishop Ambrose of Bogorodsk, vicar of the Patriarchal Exarch of Western Europe, and Bishop Peter of Kafa, vicar of the Patriarchal Exarch of Western Europe.
Opening the meeting, the Patriarchal Exarch of Western Europe addressed the members of the Synod with an opening speech.
The members of the Synod expressed deep filial gratitude to His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus' and the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church for their attention and tireless concern for the dioceses and parishes in Western Europe, the arrangement of their canonical existence and connection with the Mother Church in the difficult circumstances of the present time.
Then, at the suggestion of Metropolitan Nestor, the members of the Synod sang “Eternal Memory” to the late Archbishop Anatoly (Kuznetsov), former vicar of the Sourozh diocese, who died on January 26 of this year.
During the meeting, the participants addressed issues related to the inter-diocesan coordination of information and educational activities, youth ministry, the judicial body of the Exarchate and the solving of difficulties that arose in the dioceses and parishes of the Western European Exarchate in connection with the tragic events in Ukraine.
Members of the Synod reported on the state of affairs in the dioceses entrusted to their archpastoral administration and exchanged views on a wide range of current issues.
In accordance with the Internal Regulations of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Western Europe, the journals of the meeting will be sent for approval to His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus' and the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church.
