« The Head of the Sourozh Diocese took part in the service commemorating 1000 years since the repose of St Vladimir, Equal-to-the-Apostles, in the Yekaterinburg Metropolia »

The Head of the Sourozh Diocese participated in festivities held during 7-10 July 2015 in the Yekaterinburg Metropolia in commemoration of 1000 years since the repose of the Equal-to-the-Apostles Prince Vladimir.

With the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, the festal celebration was headed up by Metropolitan Vladimir of Kishinev and All Moldova.  Metropolitan of Ekaterinburg and Verkhoturie Kirill, Archbishop of Nezhinsk and Priluksk Iriney, Bishop of Orsk and Guysk Iriney, Bishop of Neftekamsk and Birsk Amvrosy, Bishop of Nizhny Tagil and Serov Innokenty, Bishop of Kamensk and Alapaevsk Mefody, as well as clergy of the Yekaterinburg Metropolia also took part in the festivities.

On the 7th of July, on the feast of the Birth of the Holy Prophet, Forerunner and Baptist John, Archbishop Elisey prayed during the Divine Liturgy at the St John the Baptist bishop’s metochion in Yekaterinburg.  The service was headed up by Metropolitan of Yekaterinburg and Verkhoturie Kirill, the Head of Yekaterinburg Metropolia.

On the 9th of July, the bishops celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the New Tikhvin Alexander Nevsky convent in Yekaterinburg.  Following the service, the bishops, together with clergy and the faithful, led a procession around the convent with the Tikhvin icon of the Mother of God and an icon of St Prince Vladimir.

Archbishop Elisey took part in the programme of festivities by visiting the Holy Trinity cathedral, the diocesan administration, he familiarised himself with the work of Yekaterinburg theological seminary and the Missionary institute at the New Tikhvin convent.  The Archbishop also visited the holy places of the Urals: the church-memorial ‘On the Blood’ of All the Saints who have shone forth in the land of Russia and the monastery of the Holy Royal Passion-bearers in Ganina Yama near Yekaterinburg.
