« Archbishop Mark of Yegorievsk and Archbishop Elisey of Sourozh visited the monastery of St John the Baptist in Essex  »

On 11th June, during his stay in Great Britain, Archbishop Mark of Yegoryevsk, Head of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Administration for Foreign Institutions,together with Archbishop Elisey of Sourozh visited the Patriarchal Stavropegic Monastery of St John the Baptist in Essex, near Maldon (Constantinople Patriarchate). The Monastery was founded by Elder Sophrony (Sakharov). Upon arrival the  honoured guests were greeted by Archimandrite Kirill, Abbot of the monastery, and the monastic community. The hierarchs saw the buildings and the gardens of the monastery. The visitors were also shown the icon painting workshop, the monastic cell which belonged to Elder Sophrony and his burial crypt. The visit ended with a tea shared with the brethren of the monastery.
