« Regular Meeting of Diocesan Council »

On September 7 a regular meeting of the Diocesan Council took place at the Cathedral of the Dormition of the Mother of God, under the chairmanship of Archbishop Elisey of Sourozh.

The Diocesan Council completed its work on updating the statutes of parishes.

The parish of the Nativity in King's Lynn was given the status of a subsidiary community of  the parish of St. Ephraim the Syrian, Cambridge. It was decided that representatives of subsidiary communities could take part as full members in meetings of the Diocesan Assembly.

The council approved a draft programme of commemorative events to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the founding of the Sourozh Diocese, adopted at the meeting of the Jubilee Committee, held earlier that day. The program includes activities at the Cathedral in London, a pilgrimage delegation of the Sourozh Diocese to Moscow, the preparation of anniversary publications, seminars, concerts and meetings with the press.

The Department of Religious Education was instructed to prepare a plan for the creation of  a Diocesan Theological School.

At the request of the Orthodox community in York, it was decided to establish a new parish of St. Constantine and St Helen, the Equals-to-the-Apostles.
