« Children's Easter celebration took place at the Dormition Cathedral »

A children's Easter Celebration took place at the Cathedral on Bright Saturday, 30th April, beginning with the Divine Liturgy celebrated by Archbishop Elisey. The choir which sang for the service included students of the church school.

After the Paschal procession and Breaking of the Artos, teachers and students of the school, Archbishop Elisey and the cathedral clergy proceeded to the hall where a puppet show was performed for those present.. The main purpose of the performance was to bring to the hearts of the audience a simple, but a great truth: God lives in every loving heart, and that it is only possible to  find God if we love our neighbour. The children then read Easter poems and the children's choir sang a number of Easter hymns and Russian folk songs.

Archbishop Elisey congratulated those present on the occasion of Easter, and expressed the hope that all present would deepen their spiritual lives through following the commandments of love and mercy.
The Archbishop then presented diplomas of the Synodal department of religious education to the principal of the church school, E.N. Poplavskaya, the director of the children's choir, E S Tugarinov, to JB Klochkova, a lond-standing leader of the parish school, and to A.G. Mayhew-Smith, who is actively involved in the establishing a kindergarten at the Cathedral.

After the official proceedings, the teachers, parents and children shared a Paschal meal. The celebration left warm and happy feelings in the hearts of all the participants.
