Bishop Matthew of Sourozh celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the newly formed community of the Great-martyr John of Suceava in Romford »

On Saturday, June 20, 2026, His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the newly formed diocesan community of the Great-martyr John the New of Suceava (14th century) in the London suburb of Romford.

At the entrance to the church, His Grace was greeted with bread and salt and flowers by Priest Sergiy Fedorenko, community activists, and young parishioners.

At the Divine Liturgy, His Grace was assisted by Archimandrite Siluan (Dronic), abbot of St. Vladimir's Monastery in Cahul (Moldova), Priest Sergiy Fedorenko, and Protodeacon Ioann Sylnic.

The service was conducted in Church Slavonic, English, and Romanian.

Following the Liturgy, Father Sergiy Fedorenko addressed the Archpastor with a welcoming address. As a token of gratitude on behalf of the newly formed community, Fr Sergiy presented Bishop Matthew with a miter.

In turn, His Grace presented an icon of the Sezenovo saints as a memento of his visit and addressed those present with words of sermon and spiritual edification.

Following the divine service, a communal meal was enjoyed, lovingly prepared by the parishioners.
