On June 11, 2026, following the Divine Liturgy in the Dormition Cathedral in London, Bishop Matthew of Sourozh took part in the opening of an exhibition of children's drawings to mark the 65th anniversary of the repose of Saint Luke the Confessor, Archbishop of Simferopol (June 11, 1961).
The exhibition features works by Sunday school students from parishes of the Sourozh Diocese. As part of the diocesan online educational project "Life as an Example: Learn from the Saint," the young artists illustrated the main stages of the saint's life following their reading of I.N. Sudakova's book "Saint Luke of Crimea."
Opening the exhibition, Bishop Matthew spoke about the importance of venerating saints, emphasizing the need to draw children and youth's attention to the lifestyles of modern ascetics in particular, drawing from this life-giving wellspring of faith and confession a love for God, people, and the Motherland.
E.N. Poplavskaya, Director of the Holy Martyr Grand Duchess Elizabeth Parish School at the Dormition Cathedral in London, spoke in detail about the preparations for the exhibition and introduced participants to the exhibit.
