On March 18, 2026, with the blessing of His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh, an online meeting of teachers and families of students from parish schools was held to mark the launch of the Sourozh Diocese's inter-parish educational project "Life as an Example. Learn from a Saint."
The meeting was held as part of diocesan events dedicated to Orthodox Book Day. The first topic of the project was the book "Saint Luke of Crimea" by I.N. Sudakova. The choice of the work was not accidenal: March 18 marked the 30th anniversary of the uncovering of the relics of Saint Luke (Voino-Yasenetsky), Archbishop of Simferopol and Crimea—an outstanding archpastor and physician whose life was a true example of service to God and people.
The event was moderated by E.N. Poplavskaya, Head of the Department of Religious Education of the Sourozh Diocese and Director of the Holy Martyr Elizabeth Children's Parish School at the Dormition Cathedral in London. More than 30 families from various parishes of the Sourozh Diocese participated in the online meeting. The children learned about the book with great interest, actively answered questions, and shared their impressions.
In conclusion, the participants noted that such meetings not only help them become familiar with spiritual literature but also inspire a deep understanding of the lives of holy ascetics. It is planned that online readings will be held regularly—once a week.
