On March 18, 2026, with the blessing of His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh, the Sourozh Diocese's inter-parish children's educational project "Life as an Example: Learn from a Saint" began.
Online meetings continue to be held every Wednesday, introducing young participants to the lives and deeds of the saints of the Orthodox Church. During the project's operation, books were read about Saint Luke (Voino-Yasenetsky), Archbishop of Simferopol and Crimea; Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker, Archbishop of Myra; and Saint Seraphim of Sarov.
Participants and parents note the particular benefit of such meetings: "Reading the lives of the saints is very helpful. Although I was only able to attend once, I saw that the younger children responded with great interest to the illustrations of the life of St. Luke of Crimea and to the moderator's questions. And 15 minutes is the ideal time for such readings."
"Thank you for the opportunity to participate in the online readings. The readings, explanations, and commentary are always clear and understandable. The children learn many new words, and the interesting tasks help them better understand the material. For primary school children, 15 minutes is the optimal lesson length. Parents don't always find time to read the lives of saints together, but this is a wonderful opportunity to regularly introduce children to the lives of saints."
Currently, the project participants are reading the book "The Small Patericon: Stories of Ancient Ascetics," retold by Hieromonk Savvaty (Bashtovoy).
We invite children to join the online readings every Wednesday at 7:00 PM London time.
