« The Intercession Church in Manchester honoured the memory of Marianne and Anthony Greenan »

On July 13, 2025, on the 5th Sunday after Pentecost, on the feast of the Council of the twelve glorious and all-praiseworthy  Apostles, a panikhida was held in the Intercession Church in Manchester after the Divine Liturgy for the ever-memorable long-time churchwarden Marianne Emma Anna-Maria Greenan, who passed away at the age of 88 on May 15, 2024. The service was conducted by priest Anatoly Vikhrov. After the memorial service in the refectory of the church, the clergy and parishioners celebrated the memory of Marianne and her husband, Thomas Anthony Greenan, who passed away on May 30, 2025 at the age of 93. He was the permanent choirmaster of the Manchester parish for about 30 years. During the meal, the parishioners shared their memories of the Grinan family, who carried out their church obedience for decades in the Intercession Church, watched videos and photos telling about the trip of Tony and Mariana Grinan in 2014 to Russia, to the village of Bolshaya Kazinka in the Voronezh region, where Mariana's ancestors, the landowners Sukhanov-Podkolzins, came from.
After the meal, Father Anatoly and some of the parishioners went to the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Ainsdale, where Tony and Mariana are buried. A panikhida for the servant of God Mariana was served at the common grave of the spouses; Tony remained a Catholic until the end of his life.
In gratitude from the parish, a wreath of fresh flowers was laid on the grave of Marianne and Anthony.
