« Victory Day was celebrated in the Intercession Parish in Manchester »

From May 9 to 11, 2025, parishioners of the Intercession Church in Manchester took part in festive events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory.

On May 9, flowers were laid at the memorial complex in the center of Manchester, where a memorial plaque erected in 2020 in honour of the feat of Soviet soldiers who died during World War II and residents of besieged Leningrad is located.

On May 10, parishioners of the church, with the participation and support of the Centre for Culture and Creativity in the North of England "Multinational Manchester", took part in a festive concert dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory. The event was held in the conference hall of the Luther King House Christian center.  The festive program included performances by adults and children, songs from the war years and poems, and those present told about the heroism of their relatives - front-line soldiers, home front workers and victims of Nazism who made their immortal contribution to the victory in the Great Patriotic War.

On May 11, after the Divine Liturgy, priest Anatoly Vikhrov served a panikhida for the deceased soldiers who gave their lives for the faith, Fatherland and people, and all those who died in suffering during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. After the service, a meeting of parishioners whose relatives took part in the defense of the Fatherland from the Nazi invaders took place in the church. The parishioners brought portraits of their loved ones - war veterans, shared memories and stories of the life path and heroic deeds of veterans.  Particular attention was paid to preserving the memory of the Great Patriotic War among the younger generation and preventing the falsification of history.
