« A celebration dedicated to the Day of Slavic Literature and Culture was held at the parochial school at the Dormition Cathedral in London »

On May 20, 2023, with the blessing of His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh, Rector of the Dormition Cathedral in London, the children's parochial school of the Cathedral hosted a celebration of the Day of Slavic Literature and Culture, dedicated to St. Innokenty (Veniaminov), Metropolitan of Moscow and Kolomna, Enlightener of Kamchatka, Yakutia, Amur region and North America.
Before the start of the concert program, Archpriest Dimitry Nedostupenko, Deputy Dean of the Dormition Cathedral, congratulated those present on the feast and spoke about the importance of introducing children to the Orthodox faith. Father Dimitry expressed his gratitude to the school director E.N. Poplavskaya and the teaching staff of the school, wished the students success in their further studies and acquiring knowledge.
The festive program included showing the cartoon "St. Innocent - the Apostle of America, Kamchatka, Siberia and Yakutia", created by students of the parish school, the presentation of children's drawings "Animals of the North", a musical and literary composition based on poems by Yakut poets, a performance of the song "Fawn"  (lyrics by Valgirin, translation from Chukchi language by A. Pchelkin, music by Yu.Tugarinov) by the children's choir.
At the end of the celebration, Archpriest Dimitry congratulated the winners of the "Beautiful Handwriting" contest, which was timed to coincide with the Day of Slavic Literature and Culture, and presented them with memorable gifts.
