« A clergyman of the Diocese of Sourozh held a pastoral conversation about Halloween »

On October 31, 2023, Archpriest Maxim Nikolsky, cleric of the Dormition Cathedral in London, held an on-line pastoral conversation with teachers, parents and students of parochial schools of the Sourozh diocese.
The theme of the meeting was the widely celebrated Halloween.  More than 40 people from London, Leeds, Dublin, Glasgow, Nottingham, Derby, Strathbally and other places took part in the conversation.
After the prayer “To the Heavenly King,” Father Maxim spoke about the history of the feast and its spiritual roots.  Noting the original meaning of the celebrated day as “All Saints’ Evening,” the priest traced the transformation of the church feast into the pagan image of the modern times' festival, which has lost its Christian meaning.
At the end of the meeting, Fr. Maxim answered questions from the participants.
