« Bishop Matthew of Sourozh met with Russian Ambassador to the United States A.I. Antonov »

On September 26, 2019, at the invitation of His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh, Temporary Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA and Canada, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the United States of America Anatoly Antonov visited the Patriarchal St. Nicholas Cathedral in New York City.
Vladyka Matthew told the distinguished guest about the history and modern life of the main church of the Russian Orthodox Church in the USA.  Anatoly Ivanovich venerated the shrines of the cathedral, and got acquainted with the activities of the Sunday school, library and museum.
During the meeting, Bishop Matthew informed the Ambassador about the social and charitable programs of the Patriarchal Council.  The parties also discussed a number of plans and initiatives, where the interaction between the Russian Embassy in Washington and the structures of the Russian Orthodox Church is possible.
In memory of the Ambassador's visit to the cathedral, Vladyka presented to the distinguished guest a book on the history of Orthodoxy in the United States and Great Britain, as well as a copy of a 1905 historical photograph of the builders of the church with the clergy of the Russian Church headed by St.Tikhon of Moscow.
The meeting was attended by the Bishop's personal secretary Nikolai Trubnikov, clergy of the cathedral and employees of the Russian Embassy in the United States - second secretary Alexei Mosin and senior adviser Alexander Kim.
