On Sunday, August 30, 2026, the 13th Sunday after Pentecost and the afterfeast of the Dormition of the Most Holy Mother of God, Bishop Matthew of Sourozh, Interim Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the United States and Canada, celebrated the Divine Liturgy at St. Nicholas Church in Bayonne, New Jersey.

At the entrance to the church, the Archpastor was warmly greeted by Sunday school students and members of the parish committee.

Concelebrating with Vladyka were Archpriest Mikhail Kapchits, Rector of the church and Dean of the Eastern States parishes; Priest Dimitry Sukhorukov, a cleric of St. Nicholas Church; Protodeacon Sergiy Kerko and Deacon Vasily Carr, clergy of the deanery.

After receiving Holy Communion, the Archpastor, clergy, and faithful sung magnification to the feast of the Dormition of the Most Holy Mother of God.

Following the divine service, His Grace was warmly greeted by the Rector of the church, Archpriest Mikhail Kapchits. Vladyka addressed the congregation with a sermon dedicated to the Sunday Gospel reading and congratulated the faithful on the ongoing celebration of the Dormition of the Most Holy Mother of God. Bishop Matthew expressed gratitude for the harmonious singing of the St. Nicholas Church choir, under the direction of Matushka Ekaterina Kapchits. "The organization of liturgical services in accordance with the Church Typikon, the close-knit parish community, and the activities of the Sunday school—all matters to which Father Mikhail, the Dean of the Eastern States parishes, tirelessly devotes himself—serve as a wonderful example for the clergy and parish workers of the entire district," the hierarch remarked.

The Archpastor, clergy, and parishioners continued their conversation over a fraternal meal, after which Bishop Matthew and Archpriest Mikhail discussed current issues and activities of the Eastern States Deanery parishes.
