Dormition Cathedral in London celebrated its patronal feast »

On August 28, 2026, the feast of the Dormition of the Most Holy Mother of Our Lord and the Virgin Mary, a patronal feast was celebrated at Dormition Cathedral in London.
Archpriest Dimitry Nedostupenko, Secretary of the Diocese of Sourozh and Deputy Dean of Dormition Cathedral in London, celebrated the Divine Liturgy. Concelebrating were Archpriest Igor Kisil, Dean of the Patriarchal Parishes in Alberta and Saskatchewan, and Rector of St. Barbara Cathedral in Edmonton; Archpriest Maxim Nikolsky; Archpriest Vitaly Polishchuk, Dean of the Diocesan District of Southeast England; Archpriest Nikita Kozlov; Priest Sergei Fedorenko; Priest Vasily Gandzyuk; Priest Alexander Kapustin; Protodeacon Vadim Santsevitch; Protodeacon Ioann Sylnyk; and Deacon Viktor Nikiforov.
The liturgical hymns were performed by the Dormition Cathedral Choir under the direction of Dmitry Tugarinov.
Following the Divine Liturgy, a procession with the cross took place to the cathedral square with the venerated icon of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos, after which the clergy sung a magnification hymn before the Shroud of the Mother of God.
At the conclusion of the service, Archpriest Dimitry Nedostupenko addressed the congregation with a sermon. Father Dimitry conveyed to the clergy and parishioners the greetings of the cathedral's rector, His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh, who is currently on an archpastoral visit to the Patriarchal Parishes in the United States. The diocesan secretary warmly welcomed Archpriest Igor Kisil and expressed hope for continued meetings in the future.
In turn, Father Igor expressed gratitude for the opportunity to participate in the festive service. He noted that the Diocese of Sourozh and the Patriarchal Parishes in Canada are currently led by a single Archpastor, Bishop Matthew of Sourozh, while King Charles III is the monarch of both Great Britain and Canada. Thus, the Old and New Worlds are linked not only by the bonds of civil government but also by the spiritual care of the faithful of the Russian Orthodox Church living in these countries.
With the blessing of His Grace Bishop Matthew, Fr Dimitry congratulated the cathedral's protodeacon, Father Vadim Santsevitch, on the recent day of his deacon's ordination and presented Father Vadim with a kamilavka.
On the occasion of the patronal feast, a solemn celebration of many years was proclaimed.
All parishioners were offered a festive meal.
