The academic year drew to a close at the parish school of the Dormition Cathedral in London »

On June 27, 2026, the final day of school took place at the Holy Martyr Grand Duchess Elizabeth Children's Parish School at the Dormition Cathedral in London.
The celebration began with a thanksgiving moleben led by cathedral clergy Priest Alexander Kapustin and Protodeacon Vadim Santsevitch.
The clergy, along with the teachers, students, and their parents, thanked the Lord for the past school year, its labours, joys, and achievements.
Following the divine service, a ceremonial closing of the school year took place in the cathedral foyer.
With the blessing of His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh, Priest Alexander Kapustin congratulated the graduates and presented them with certificates of completion.
School principal E.N. Poplavskaya summarised the academic year, which was filled with exciting events and new projects. This year, publication of the children's Orthodox magazine "Vorobushek" was resumed, work on updating and developing the school website continued, and students participated in the Third Diocesan Exhibition dedicated to the 190th anniversary of the birth of St. Nicholas of Japan (Kasatkin). Traditionally, the school hosted a Christmas play, Orthodox Book Day, and Day of Slavic Literature and Culture, during which the students presented the play "The Creation of the Slavic Alphabet." One of the most significant new projects was the weekly online readings, which brought together students from various parish schools of the Sourozh Diocese.
The festive mood was enhanced by a short concert prepared by children's choir director M.V. Bezmenova-Nikolau. The young performers delighted the guests with their musical numbers.
Special thanks were extended to the volunteers who helped organize school life throughout the year.
On behalf of Bishop Matthew of Sourozh, Father Alexander presented them with letters of gratitude.
The last day of school concluded with a joyful school tradition—a shared picnic, which gave the children, parents, and teachers the opportunity to once again gather in an informal setting, share impressions, and joyfully conclude the outgoing school year.
We thank all the teachers, parents, volunteers, and our students for their hard work, support, and love for the school. We wish everyone a wonderful summer vacation and look forward to seeing you again next school year!
