14-02-2026 The Most Reverend Richard Moth was installed as the Twelfth Archbishop of Westminster during a Mass of Installation at Westminster Cathedral on Saturday 14 February 2026.
The Archbishop of Westminster is the senior Metropolitan Archbishop of the Roman Catholic Church in England and Wales, and head of the Diocese of Westminster, which covers the territory of Greater London north of the River Thames.
Before his election as Archbishop of Westminster, Archbishop Richard served as Bishop of Arundel and Brighton from 2015 to 2025. Previously, he was Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Southwarkfrom 2001 to 2009, and Bishop of the Forces from 2009 to 2015.
With the blessing of His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh, the Diocese of Sourozh was represented at the installation by Archpriest Stephen Platt, Diocesan Head of Inter-Christian Relations, who joined the representatives of other Christian denominations at the service. Beforehand, Father Stephen was able to congratulate Archbishop Richard, and to convey to him the greetings and congratulations of His Grace, Bishop Matthew.
