On the morning of January 6, 2026, on the eve of the Nativity of Christ (Christmas Eve), His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh celebrated the Royal Hours, Typica service, Great Vespers with the reading of the Nativity paremias, and the Divine Liturgy of St. Basil the Great at Dormition Cathedral in London.
His Grace was assisted by Archpriest Maxim Nikolsky, Dean of the Diocesan District of South East England Archpriest Vitaly Polishchuk, Secretary of the Diocese of Sourozh Archpriest Dimitry Nedostupenko, Archpriest Nikita Kozlov, Priest Vasily Gandzyuk, Priest Alexander Kapustin, and Protodeacon Vadim Santsevitch.
The liturgical hymns were performed by the Dormition Cathedral Choir under the direction of Dmitry Tugarinov.
Following the prayer behind the ambo, the troparion and kontakion for the feast of the Nativity of Christ were sung before the Advent candle, symbolizing the Star of Bethlehem.
Following the dismissal of the Liturgy, Bishop Matthew addressed the clergy and parishioners with a sermon and words of spiritual edification. Simultaneous translation into English was provided by Protodeacon Vadim Santsevitch.
