« An expanded meeting of the Diocesan Council of the Diocese of Sourozh »

On December 5, 2025, an expanded meeting of the Diocesan Council of the Diocese of Sourozh was held at the Dormition Cathedral in London, chaired by His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh.

The meeting was attended by:

  • Archimandrite Daniel (Davies), Dean of the Diocesan District of Wales;
  • Archpriest Vitaly Polishchuk, Dean of the Diocesan District of Southeast England;
  • Archpriest Mikhail Nasonov, Dean of the Diocesan District of the Republic of Ireland;
  • Archpriest Stephen Platt, Dean of the Diocesan District of Central England;
  • Archpriest Joseph Skinner, Dean of the Diocesan District of Southwest England;
  • Archpriest Dimitry Nedostupenko, Secretary of the Diocese of Sourozh, Dean of the Diocesan District of Northern England and the Diocesan District of the British Overseas Territories;
  • Archpriest Georgy Zavershinsky, Dean of the Diocesan District of Northern Ireland;
  • Priest Evgeny Selensky, Dean of the Diocesan District of East Anglia;
  • Priest Alexander Menshikov, Dean of the Diocesan District of Scotland.

His Grace Bishop Matthew welcomed those gathered and announced the agenda.

Members of the Diocesan Council sang "Eternal Memory" to His Holiness Patriarch Alexy II, whose 17th anniversary of death is celebrated today, and to the ever-memorable Metropolitan Anthony (Bloom), founder of the Diocese of Sourozh, and Archbishop Anatoly (Kuznetsov), former vicar bishop of the Diocese of Sourozh.

Secretary of the Diocese of Sourozh, Archpriest Dimitry Nedostupenko, on behalf of the Diocesan Council participants, congratulated Bishop Matthew on the recent 10th anniversary of his episcopal consecration and his name day.

During the meeting, reports were heard from His Grace Bishop Matthew and the deans, and the participants discussed current issues in accordance with the meeting agenda.
