« The 3rd Pedagogical Conference of the "Heritage" Association of Russian Language Schools Was Held at the Dormition Cathedral »

On November 18, 2025, with the blessing of Bishop Matthew of Sourozh, the third pedagogical conference, organized by the "Heritage" Association of Russian Language Schools, was held at the Dormition Cathedral in London. The conference theme was "The Role of Project Activities in the Study, Support, and Development of the Russian Language in Far Abroad."

The conference was attended by educators, researchers, heads of educational centres, and specialists in Russian studies whose lives are connected with the teaching and development of Russian language and culture among children living in the British Isles. For the younger generation, Russian is becoming not just a means of communication but also a connecting link to family, culture, history, traditions, and spiritual values. Participants shared their experiences and presented various projects aimed at supporting and developing Russian language skills in bilingual children: puppet theater, family performances, fairy tale productions, art projects, literary quizzes, and practical classes to prepare for the Russian language oral state exam for UK secondary school graduates.

E.N. Poplavskaya, the Headteacher of the Holy Martyr Grand Duchess Elizabeth Parish School at the Dormition Cathedral of the Sourozh Diocese, presented the third exhibition of children's works to conference participants, dedicated to the 190th anniversary of the birth of St. Nicholas of Japan.

The conference also included a presentation of the latest issues of the first Orthodox children's magazine in the UK, "Vorobushek," published by the Sourozh Diocese.

During the break, conference participants were given a tour of the cathedral, including a presentation on the history of the church and its relics.

The event took place in a warm and friendly atmosphere of collegial communication.

In conclusion, the organisers and participants expressed their gratitude to the Rector of the Dormition Cathedral, His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh, for providing the opportunity to hold the meeting.
