On the evening of August 28, 2026, Bishop Matthew of Sourozh, Acting Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the United States and Canada, celebrated Matins with the Rite of the Burial of the Most Holy Mother of God at St. Nicholas Cathedral in New York City.Cathedral clergy and Priest Yulian Ryabtsev, Acting Rector of Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Elizabeth, New Jersey, assisted Vladyka.
After the Great Doxology, the Archpastor led a procession carrying the Shroud of the Most Holy Mother of God, after which he anointed the clergy and faithful with blessed oil.
