On May 1, 2026, Bishop Matthew of Sourozh, Acting Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the United States and Canada, arrived in San Diego, California, as part of an archpastoral visit to the Deanery of the Western United States.
His Grace visited the Church of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God, where the rector, Hieromonk Sylvester (Kozhin), briefed the archpastor on the life of the parish and the changes that have occurred since his appointment in 2023.
On May 2, Saturday of the fourth week after Pascha, Bishop Matthew will celebrate the Divine Liturgy at the Kazan Church. Following the divine service, a meeting with church leaders and parishioners is planned to be held.
