18-05-2026
His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia congratulated Bishop Matthew of Sourozh on his 55th birthday.
To His Grace, Right Reverend Matthew, Bishop of Sourozh, Temporary Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA and Canada
Your Grace! Christ is Risen!
Addressing you with this life-affirming Paschal greeting, I cordially congratulate you on your 55th birthday.
Realizing that the fate of the Lord of hosts is wondrous and His wisdom is great (Isaiah 28:29), you decided to dedicate your life to Him, accepted the priesthood and fulfilled various responsible obediences in the Tambov land. Years later, seeing your zeal in your labours in the harvest fields of the Church, the Almighty vouchsafed you to continue them in the episcopal rank.
Now you govern the Diocese of Sourozh, as well as the Patriarchal parishes in the USA and Canada. It is gratifying to testify that you are trying with diligence to take care that everything in the lands entrusted to you be decently and orderly (1 Cor. 14:40) and strive to set a good example for the clergy and flock.
In recognition of your ministry and in connection with the significant date being celebrated, I consider it fair to honour you with a Patriarchal Gramota.
May the Savior of the world, Who has risen from the grave, strengthen you and grant His generous help in your further episcopal labours for the good of Holy Orthodoxy.
With love in the Resurrected Christ,
+KIRILL, PATRIARCH OF MOSCOW AND ALL RUSSIA
