« On the eve of the Second Sunday of Great Lent, Bishop Matthew of Sourozh celebrated the all-night vigil at Dormition Cathedral in London »

On the evening of March 7, 2026, on the eve of the Second Sunday of Great Lent, the feast of St. Gregory Palamas, Archbishop of Thessaloniki, His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh celebrated the all-night vigil at Dormition Cathedral in London.

His Grace was assisted by Archpriest Vitaly Polishchuk, Dean of the Diocesan District of South East England, Archpriest Nikita Kozlov, Priest Sergiy Fedorenko, Priest Alexander Kapustin, Protodeacon Vadim Santsevich, Protodeacon John Sylnik and Deacon Victor Nikiforov.

The Cathedral Choir, under the direction of Dmitry Tugarinov, performed the liturgical hymns.

During the polyeleos, a reliquary containing great Christian relics—a particle of the Life-giving Cross of the Lord, the Belt of the Most Holy Theotokos, and particles of the holy relics of God's chosen saints—was brought from the altar to the center of the church.

At Matins, after the Gospel reading, Bishop Matthew anointed the clergy and worshippers with holy oil.
