On March 29, 2026, on the Fifth Sunday of Great Lent, the feast day of St. Mary of Egypt, His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Church of Saints Aidan and Chad in Nottingham.
At the Divine Liturgy, His Grace was assisted by Archpriest Gregory Butler, rector of the church; Archpriest Dimitry Nedostupenko, secretary of the Diocese of Sourozh; Priest Sergiy Sokolovsky, cleric of the parish of All Saints of Britain and Ireland in Birmingham; and Protodeacon Vadim Santsevitch, cleric of the Dormition Cathedral in London.
At the Little Entrance, for his zealous service to the Church of Christ on the feast of Holy Pascha, Bishop Matthew awarded the church rector, Archpriest Gregory Butler, a patriarchal liturgical award—the right to wear the Jewelled Cross.
Following the Liturgy, Father Gregory warmly thanked Bishop Matthew for his archpastoral visit and the joy of their shared prayer and presented him with a folding icon with icons of the Savior and the Most Holy Theotokos.
In turn, the Archpastor greeted Father Gregory and the parishioners and addressed those present with a sermon in English.
In memory of the visit, Bishop Matthew presented the parish with a liturgical Gospel in English, published by the Moscow Patriarchate Publishing House with the participation of the Diocese of Sourozh.
With the Bishop's blessing, the young parishioners were given gifts donated by the staff of the parish school at the Dormition Cathedral in London, along with icons of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God.
In recognition of his diligent church service and in connection with his 20th anniversary of ordination, Bishop Matthew presented Deacon Pavel Wood with a Patriarchal award—the Medal of the Order of St. Seraphim of Sarov. Matushka Alexandra Wood was awarded the Bishop's Blessing Certificate.
The Archpastor, clergy, and parishioners continued their conversation over a shared meal.
