02-03-2026 On March 1, 2026, the First Sunday of Great Lent, the Triumph of Orthodoxy, His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Dormition Cathedral in London.
His Grace was assisted by Archpriest Maxim Nikolsky, Dean of the Diocesan District of South East England Archpriest Vitaly Polishchuk, Secretary of the Diocese of Sourozh Archpriest Dimitry Nedostupenko, Archpriest Nikita Kozlov, Priest Vasily Gandzyuk, Priest Alexander Kapustin, Protodeacon Vadim Santsevitch, and Protodeacon Ioann Sylnik.
The liturgical hymns were performed by the Dormition Cathedral Choir under the direction of Dmitry Tugarinov.
Before the Liturgy, a reliquary containing great Christian relics—a particle of the Life-giving Cross of the Lord, the Belt of the Most Holy Theotokos, and particles of the holy relics of chosen saints—was brought from the altar to the center of the church.
After the litany of fervent supplication, Bishop Matthew offered a prayer for the granting of peace.
Following the Liturgy, the Rite of the Triumph of Orthodoxy was celebrated.
Following the service, Bishop Matthew addressed the clergy and parishioners with a sermon and words of spiritual edification. Simultaneous translation into English was provided by Protodeacon Vadim Santsevitch.
At a reception held in the church refectory, clergy, singers, and cathedral staff warmly congratulated His Grace the Archpastor on the 28th anniversary of his deacon ordination. Archpriest Dimitry Nedostupenko addressed Bishop Matthew, on behalf of those present, with a welcoming address. His Grace, in turn, warmly thanked everyone present for their congratulations and good wishes.
