16-02-2026 On February 16, 2026, the feast day of St. Nicholas, Equal-to-the-Apostles, Archbishop of Japan (1912), His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh celebrated the Divine Liturgy at Dormition Cathedral in London.
His Grace was assisted by Archpriest Maxim Nikolsky, Secretary of the Diocese of Sourozh Archpriest Dmitry Nedostupenko, and Archpriest Nikita Kozlov.
The liturgical hymns were performed by the Dormition Cathedral Chamber Choir under the direction of Dmitry Tugarinov. Following the prayer before the ambo, the Archpastor and concelebrating clergy performed a prayerful hymn before a newly painted icon of St. Nicholas of Japan in Russia, containing a particle of his holy relics.
The particle of the relics was transferred, with the blessing of the Primate of the Japanese Autonomous Orthodox Church His Eminence Seraphim, Archbishop of Tokyo and Metropolitan of All Japan, to the Dormition Cathedral in London during the pilgrimage of a group of representatives of the Diocese of Sourozh to Japan in 2025.
Following the dismissal of the Liturgy, Bishop Matthew addressed the clergy and parishioners with words of sermon and spiritual edification in Russian and English.
