« The 4th Children's Art Exhibition dedicated to the works of V.M. Vasnetsov opens at the Dormition Cathedral in London »

On November 1, 2026, with the blessing of His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh, the 4th Children's Art Exhibition opened at Dormition Cathedral in London. The exhibition was organised by the Diocese of Sourozh, and this year's theme was "The Spiritual Beauty of the Native Land in the Works of V.M. Vasnetsov."

The exhibition was opened by Archpriest Dimitry Nedostupenko, Secretary of the Diocese of Sourozh and Deputy Dean of the Cathedral. Addressing those present, he recalled that Viktor Mikhailovich Vasnetsov was born into a family of priests. The master's life was filled with many trials, which his faith helped him overcome. Father Dimitry particularly emphasised the global significance of the great Russian artist's creative legacy.

E.N. Poplavskaya, Director of the Holy Martyr Grand Duchess Elizabeth Parish School at the Dormition Cathedral in London, described the project's preparations and introduced the participants to the exhibition. The exhibition featured students from children's parochial schools of the Sourozh Diocese in London, Manchester, Glasgow, Nottingham, and Dublin, as well as students from secular educational institutions in London, Aberdeen, Newcastle, and Chelmsford. This year, the project expanded its geography: for the first time, schools from Armenia, Cyprus, Norway, and the United States joined in.

In their works, the young artists explored various aspects of Vasnetsov's legacy. The children's drawings reflected fairytale images, the beauty of nature, sketches of sets for the play "The Snow Maiden," and motifs from the famous paintings "Alyonushka" and "Bogatyrs." Each participant shared their impressions of discovering the master's masterpieces in their own way.

The organisers express their heartfelt gratitude to all the young artists and teachers who prepared the children for participation in the project for their efforts, inspiration, and careful introduction of the younger generation to Russian culture and historical heritage.
