25-12-2025
On December 23, 2025, Bishop Matthew of Sourozh, Interim Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the United States and Canada, met with the youth of St. Nicholas Patriarchal Cathedral in New York City.Since 2010, youth meetings at the cathedral have been held regularly every Tuesday.
Before the event, Bishop Matthew led a moleben for the beginning of a good deed, after which a meeting with members of the youth organization took place in the cathedral refectory.
The Archpastor spoke about his many years of missionary experience serving abroad, including his memories of meetings with the ever-memorable Metropolitan Anthony (Bloom) of Sourozh, and the special traditions of the parish community at the London Cathedral, which he emphasised upon beginning his ministry in the parishes of the Moscow Patriarchate in the United Kingdom.
Following this, the Archpastor answered numerous questions, including about his attitude toward non-Orthodox Christians, the contemporary mission of the Russian Orthodox Church in countries abroad, and other topics of concern to modern Orthodox youth.
At the end of the meeting, which was held in a warm and welcoming atmosphere, Bishop Matthew expressed his gratitude to the participants for their assistance in the beautification of the church, wished everyone a blessed end to the Nativity Fast, and congratulated the youth on the upcoming feasts of the Nativity of Christ and the New Year.
