« Bishop Matthew of Sourozh celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Kazan Metochion Skete in Spokane, USA »

On December 11, 2025, the feast day of the Holy Hieromartyr Metropolitan Seraphim (Chichagov), Bishop Matthew of Sourozh, temporary Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the United States and Canada, visited the Kazan Metochion Skete in Spokane, Washington, where a women's monastic community is cared for.

Co-served by the rector of the metochion, Hieromonk Tikhon (Pashkov), and clergy, the archpastor celebrated the Divine Liturgy.

The sisters of the monastery and pilgrims prayed at the service. Following the Liturgy, Vladyka addressed those gathered, gratefully noting the special spiritual joy of praying with the monastics during the holy days of the Nativity Fast. Having visited the skete last year and learned of its nuns' special veneration of St. Seraphim of Sarov, Bishop Matthew promised to bring them an English translation of Archimandrite Seraphim (Chichagov), then in preparation for publication, "The Chronicle of the Seraphim-Diveyevo Monastery." Symbolically, the Vladyka's previously unplanned visit to the skete coincided with the feast day of the book's author, the holy martyr St. Seraphim.

The archpastor prayerfully invoked the blessing of St. Seraphim the Wonderworker of Sarov and St. Metropolitan Seraphim on the monastic labours of Father Tikhon and the sisters of the skete.

The conversation continued over a fraternal meal, after which Vladyka and his personal secretary, Nikolai Trubnikov, who is accompanying him on the trip, departed for the Patriarchal Parishes in Canada.
