At today’s meeting of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church the decision was taken to appoint Bishop Elisey (Ganaba) of Bogorodsk (webpage), the assistant bishop of the Korsun Diocese as the ruling bishop of the Diocese of Sourozh.
The Diocese of Sourozh had been temporarily placed under the care of Archbishop Innocent of Korsun following the crisis precipitated by the decision of Bishop Basil (Osborne) to leave the jurisdiction of the Russian Orthodox Church for the Patriarchate of Constantinople.
