On June the 2nd, on the eve of the Patronal Feast of the Cathedral of the Diocese of Sourozh, a significant event took place. A joint service of clergy of the Diocese of Sourozh, Moscow Patriarchate, and of Russian Orthodox Church Abroad, took place for the first time.

On this day the Divine Liturgy was presided over by His Grace Bishop Elisey of Bogorodsk. The accomplished unity of the Russian Orthodox Church was established at a local level here in London by this joint service, the common prayer, the brotherly embrace with the words 'Christ is among us', and by communion of Christ’s Holy Sacraments.

Around twenty clerics participated in the Liturgy, representing the now unified Russian Orthodoxy in the British Isles. At the end of the Divine Liturgy, Bishop Elisey welcomed all those who had gathered for the service, and expressed his confidence that the collapse of the barrier that divided us will - in the most positive way - affect the possibilities for Orthodox witness in England.
