Delegates from the Diocese to the Local Council elected

The extraordinary meeting of the Diocesan Assembly took place on the 10th of January in the London Cathedral of Dormition and All Saints. The meeting was called in order to elect the delegates to the Local Council of the Russian Orthodox Church. The Council will meet on 27-29th of January to elect a new Patriarch of Moscow.

Before the meeting Bishop Elisey of Sourozh addressed the members of the Assembly with his greetings and called for their prayers that God may give rest the soul of the newly reposed Holy Patriarch Alexiy. The Panikhida for the reposed Patriarch was headed by Bishop Elisey assisted by Archbishop Anatoly of Kerch and other clergy.

The meeting of the Assembly and election took place in the church after the Panikhida. As a result of the vote, it was decided that the clergy would be represented by Archpriest Benedict Ramsden, the senior cleric of the Diocese, the monastic community, by nun Feodosia (Persianova), and the laity, by Gregory Bridge, the secretary of the Diocese.
