of the Diocesan Council

on 10th September 2010

 

MINUTE № 1

HEARD the communication of His Eminence, Archbishop Elisey of Sourozh concerning the appointment of Priest Joseph Skinner as Secretary of the Diocesan Council.

RESOLVED to take note of the appointment of the Secretary of the Diocesan Coucil.

 

 

MINUTE № 2

DISCUSSED the response to Resolution 7 of the Diocesan Assembly meeting of 26th  June, 2010.

Note: the above mentioned Resolution required Rectors to communicate the names of the Churchwardens of their parishes or the person nominated by them to represent the parish in the Diocesan Assembly by September 10th, 2010.

Approximately half of the parishes had either submitted Minutes of their Parish Assembly, noting the election of a Churchwarden, or the Rector had communicated to the Diocesan Council the name of the representative of the Parish whom he had nominated to attend the next meeting of the Diocesan Assembly.

RESOLVED to remind the Rectors of the Parishes of the necessity of submitting as soon as possible either Minutes of Parish Assembly meetings, noting the election of a Churchwarden, for approval by the Diocesan Hierarch, or the names of Parish representatives to attend the Diocesan Assembly.

 

MINUTE № 3

DISCUSSED the desirability of strengthening the links between the parishes of the Diocese of Sourozh and the stavropegic parishes of the Russian Orthodox Church in Manchester and Dublin.

RESOLVED to invite the Rectors of the above stavropegic parishes to communicate the names of two or three potential representatives, one of whom might be invited by His Eminence, Archbishop Elisey of Sourozh to attend the Diocesan Assembly as an observer.

 

MINUTE № 4

DISCUSSED the necessity of supporting the development of church schools and encouraging communication among teachers in the parishes.

RESOLVED to approve the proposal of the Director of the London Cathedral church school to organise an exchange of experience among parish teachers and to include this in the programme of the next Diocesan Conference.

 

MINUTE № 5

HEARD the report of His Eminence, Archbishop Elisey of Sourozh concerning the diocesan property at Rocks Farm, Bodiam, East Sussex.

RESOLVED to create a Sisterhood that would be called to lay the foundations of monastic life there and would use the diocesan property at Rocks Farm and be responsible for the day to day care and maintenance thereof.

 

MINUTE № 6

HEARD the report of His Eminence, Archbishop Elisey of Sourozh concerning the Irish Deanery of the Diocese of Sourozh.

RESOLVED to ask Archbishop Elisey of Sourozh to petition His Holiness, Patriarch Kirill to assign Priest Nikolai Evseev, cleric of the Patriarchal metochion in Dublin, to the Diocese of Sourozh in order to provide pastoral care for the parishes of the Irish Deanery.

 

MINUTE № 7

HEARD the communication of His Eminence, Archbishop Elisey of Sourozh concerning the request of Priest Gregory Butler temporarily to be relieved of the duty of Rector of the parishes in Nottingham and Newark on the grounds of the condition of his health.

NOTED the appointment by the Diocesan Hierarch of Archpriest Gennady Andreev, Acting Dean of the North and Middle England Deanery,  as Acting Rector of the above parishes.

 

MINUTE № 8

HEARD the report of Priest Stephen Platt, Rector of the Parish of St Nicholas in Oxford, concerning the completion of preparations for the consecration of the Church of St Nicholas which is planned to take place on October 9th, 2010.

RESOLVED to invoke the blessing of God and to ask the prayers of the faithful for the forthcoming consecration of the Church of St Nicholas.

 

MINUTE № 9

CONSIDERED the need to promote the work of the newly-established Diocesan Departments.

RESOLVED to call on the Heads of Diocesan Departments to present the composition of the corresponding Departments for approval by the Diocesan Hierarch. Meetings of the Departments with the participation of His Eminence, Archbishop Elisey of Sourozh, should be held in the near future.
